I like it it's good, I have just a few comments.

FYI the Amendments that banned and repealed alcohol are:
Amendment XVIII (18th) - Ratified January 16, 1919
Amendment XXI (21st) - Ratified December 5, 1933
I don't know if you want to use that info for anything, it's up to you

You say that many of the marijuana-related gangs consist of youths, do you have a source for that? I don't know many street gangs that sell pot and not harder drugs. Pot-only dealers are usually lone wolves who get their weed through private, personal connections. You may want to make that distinction or you may want to keep it - as an argument for legalization, but only if you have a source to back it up.

Don't say it's believed to have medicinal value and then list the diseases it treats. Say that it does have medicinal value.

At one point you ask "why shouldn't we legalize it?" Try to avoid a negative tone when trying to promote an idea so try "why should we legalize marijuana?"

Elevator Pitch

In the nineteen twenties America outlawed the production and distribution of alcohol. This “prohibition” gave birth to numerous violent crime syndicates based around the black market value of illegal alcohol. In modern day America Alcohol, a substance that is very bad for ones health, physically addicting, and makes a person a threat to themselves and the people around them is perfectly legal for an adult to purchase. Cannabis however is still under its own prohibition and just like the prohibition of the twenties has created numerous violent crime syndicates but unlike the gangs of the twenties many of the street level members are young teenagers. The funny part is cannabis or marijuana is not physically addicting, is believed to have medicinal values, when smoked it has a calming effect and makes a person far less of a threat to anyone even themselves, has no proven long term effects to consistent smokers, unlike smokers of tobacco cigarettes. So now the questions become why is cannabis still illegal? and why shouldn’t we legalize it in Massachusetts this year? Extremely addicting and harmful substances like cigarettes and alcohol are perfectly legal for adults in America but not cannabis, a safer, non addicting, and medicinal substance with calming side effects. Cannabis legalization is not only sensible and would lower crime by destroying the black market value it’s illegal status gives it but it also would give our state a hundred million dollar cash crop. Taxing and regulating cannabis will create a near billion dollar industry from the ashes of the black market it crushed and create jobs in retail, botany, and business management. I’m pretty sure more jobs are what everyone in the country wants, right? One of the greatest benefits of Cannabis is that when it is grown and harvested properly it is an incredible and natural medicine. Many people suffering from AIDS, glaucoma, chronh’s disease, and cancer all use cannabis or a form of its active chemical THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). It is time to move on from this pointless “war on drugs” and end this prohibition that is originally based in lies and greed. Cannabis is safe, it is medicine, has unlimited money making potential since people of all age, race, and back round use Cannabis. I’m here representing Mass Acceptance, we want Massachusetts to take the first step in normalizing Cannabis by legalizing, taxing, and regulating it and allowing adults of ages twenty one and up to have the right to use this safe and natural plant for his or her own purposes whether they be medicinal or recreational. End the propaganda and hypocrisy, if we as Americans believe cigarettes and alcohol should be legal for adults then let’s also legalize the substance that won’t kill you, Cannabis.
