Blind "taste" test Empty Cards

Post  Jonny Sun Apr 15, 2012 5:13 am

I finished designing the cards. I made cards for Heroin, cocaine, marijuana, caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco. I may do one for peanuts too but the major ones are done.

I put the following statistics on each card:

fatalities

addictive

natural

medical benefits

Yeah, obviously if they say they don't support medical because they think pot is evil, we shouldn't ask if they support legalization. This is good thinking though, we should develop these strings of questions a bit more. Are there any other big questions to ask? Or sub-questions to add?

I got some image files to make the cards with today, I need statistics on all the substances though. Can someone make a list?

perhaps the interview questions are variable, as in, the cannabis users receive the next question differntly than non users, and we direct the "line" of questioning, around the answers given,,, to get more understandable responses, and minimize invasion

Can we set up in school or do we need permission? We could go around to people in the lounges to practice.

We should also develop the interview questions.

Here's what I had so far:

Have you ever tried cannabis?

Do you think that marijuana should be legal for medical use?
Why?

Do you think that cannabis should be legal?
Why?

Do you think that cannabis should be on Schedule I with heroin?

i love this idea. it fits, it works, and I believe it's appropriate enough for approval and interest, if we do it, let's film it.

Izzy came up with a great idea for our direct action but it may not be enough by itself. He proposed that we develop a blind test where people look at product descriptions of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and marijuana. We could also use apples, peanuts, or potatoes as one of the samples. We can construct cards with a picture of the product inside and a description on the outside containing statistics on fatalities, addiction, and health problems caused by long-term use or effects on the body. We then set up a table somewhere and ask people to choose the one they believe should be legal/illegal or ask them to arrange them in order of threat. Then we ask them to open the cards in order and show them which substances they picked.

This is an awesome idea but where and when should we do it? Bunker Hill may be a good place to set up and/or the common on 4/20.

So far this is the only idea proposed for this aspect of the project, any other ideas or ways to build on this idea would be appreciated.
